I love this article from Forbes Women about things to consider when planning a career break for any reason, whether that be to travel or have a baby.
There are five pieces of advice in this article. My favourite is the one about remaining in touch with the juniors in the organisation and industry that you may have mentored at some point. While you are on a break, they will continue to perform and progress their careers. When it’s time for you to re-enter your industry and resume your career, they may be in a position to recommend you.
I like this advice because it reminds me of that saying that you should always be nice to the people below you on the way up, as you will likely meet them again on your way down.
