Breakthrough Blueprint

The how-to guide to your career success

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

Q: What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

A: Throughout my career I have been offered much advice from a number of people that I admire. My favourite, and the one that I keep returning to, is to back myself.

That seemingly simple piece of advice has encouraged me to move from one of the largest publishing companies to one of the smallest, from newspapers to magazines, from print to digital and from the comfort of my functional expertise to the C-suite.

It takes confidence and courage to back yourself. If they are in short supply then do what I did and find someone who believes in you who can help talk you through it. After you have backed yourself once with success, you will find it increasingly easy to do so in the future.  Once your self-belief will start to grow, you will be difficult to stop. Go for it!

If you have any questions that you would like answered along the way, submit them in the comments below and I promise to respond in an upcoming post.
